The then President of the Republic of Ghana,John Dramani Mahama as part of the progressive Free Senior High School Policy built hundreds of E-blocks across the country.
This was aimed at unraveling the age-old infrastructure deficit in the education sector.
Prof Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, the then Education minister under whose tutelage the sector went through transformational reforms, successfully enrolled the Progressive Senior High School program in 2016.
The ideal objective of this plausible initiative was to spike the admission percentage of JHS graduates in a consented cost-free enrollment into Senior High Schools, without bedeviling them with the avoidable shackles of the Free SHS under this Nana Addo/Bawumiah government.
It is on parliamentary record that before the NDC exited power, 45 of the E-blocks were operationalized whiles the rest were near completion at various stages across the country.
Fortunately, Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem constituency was blessed with one of the E-blocks edifice.
Given the demographics of KEEA, this new community Senior High institution would have been critical in fostering education in the municipality. Especially when it is known to be one of the largest constituencies by landscape and population density.
On a rather sad note, the Ntranoa community SHS started under the erstwhile John Mahama administration has been rendered white elephant by this government.
It is quite pathetic how such a salutary project by a visionary leader has been left to rot at the mercy of the harsh weather and reptiles.
Unsurprisingly, KEEA, Ekumfi and a host of other Pro NDC constituencies have been at the receiving end of Nana Addo’s vindictive instinct. This NPP government has retarded our development by abandoning the Komenda Sugar factory, Elmina fish processing Plant and other monumental projects started by the erstwhile NDC government. The last straw to break the camel’s back is the Ntranoa Community day SHS.
Ironically, KEEA NPP boasts of National Premix coordinator and deputy central regional chairman of the NPP, who has watched on gleefully for all these truculence against the constituency. As for the Municipal Chief Executive, the least said about him the better.
The member of parliament for the good people of KEEA, Hon. Samuel Atta-Mills on the other hand has exhausted all the political avenues to appeal to the education minister to complete and operationalize the E-block but fell on deaf ears. Nonetheless, the Hon MP is optimistic that if the government fails to grant his wish in their last 11 months in office, the next NDC government will give him a greater leeway of opportunities to complete all the abandoned projects within the municipality.
In a nutshell, KEEA constituency has been unfairly treated by this Nana Addo/Bawumia government but didn’t envisage the inhumane extent of politicizing such a laudable educational project to the detriment of the school-going demographic of the municipal. Enough is enough! The Ntranoa community day Senior High School must be resuscitated immediately.
