In a commendable display of community spirit and support for youth-driven creativity, miners from Manso Tontokrom in the Manso Edubia Constituency of the Ashanti Region have donated assorted items to bolster the ongoing street art programme under Ashantifest 2026.
The donation, spearheaded by local mining leader Okomfo Kwadae, forms part of efforts to support the street art initiative championed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene.
The initiative is one of the flagship activities marking the climax of this year’s Ashantifest celebration, aimed at promoting culture, creativity, and tourism across the region.
The miners, inspired by the remarkable artistic expressions displayed by Senior High School students participating in the programme, contributed assorted drinks, bottled water, and other essential items to ensure the smooth execution of the event. Their gesture highlights the growing collaboration between local communities and government-led cultural initiatives.
Speaking to the media after the presentation, Mr. Adae Micheal, the NDC Branch Chairman for Tontokrom and a member of the miners’ group, lauded the students for their dedication and exceptional talent.
He emphasized the importance of encouraging young people to explore their creative potential, noting that such initiatives not only nurture talent but also instill a sense of pride and ownership in community development.
“The students have demonstrated impressive creativity and commitment. Supporting them is an investment in the future of our community and the nation at large,” he stated.
Echoing similar sentiments, the Constituency Youth Organizer, Mr. Adae Joseph, underscored the broader impact of the street art project.
According to him, the artworks have significantly enhanced the aesthetic appeal of the area, transforming public spaces into vibrant cultural landmarks.
He further noted that beyond beautification, the initiative holds economic and security benefits. “This form of art has the potential to attract tourists, boost local businesses, and improve visibility in our communities, which in turn can contribute to enhanced security,” he explained.
Ashantifest, an annual cultural festival in the Ashanti Region, continues to serve as a platform for showcasing the rich heritage, talent, and unity of the people.
The inclusion of street art as a major highlight this year reflects a modern approach to cultural expression, blending tradition with contemporary creativity.
The support from the Manso Tontokrom miners stands as a testament to the power of community involvement in driving successful cultural programmes. As Ashantifest 2026 draws to a close, such partnerships are expected to leave a lasting impact on the region’s cultural and socio-economic landscape.
