Job Summary.
The principal is the academic and administrative head of the college, responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring academic excellence, promoting research, and overseeing operational and financial management. The role involves ensuring compliance with approved laws, policies, and standards.
Key Responsibilities
The principal will be responsible for:
– Providing visionary leadership aligned with the college’s mission
– Promoting quality teaching, research, and community service
– Ensuring compliance with educational and healthcare regulations
– Overseeing financial, human resource, and infrastructure management
– Ensuring a safe and supportive environment for staff and students
– Serving as the chief spokesperson and liaison with stakeholders
– Reporting college performance to the Ministry of Health
– Facilitating effective governance through collaboration with the Advisory Board
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must:
– Be of high integrity and a distinguished health educator
– Hold at least the rank of Deputy Chief Health Tutor or equivalent
– Possess a research-based postgraduate degree, preferably a PhD
– Have in-depth knowledge of health training and tertiary education systems in Ghana
– Be eligible to serve a full four-year term before attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60
Appointment Process.
The appointment will be through a competitive interview in accordance with prevailing appointment guidelines in the Ministry of Health and the Public Service. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview by a Search Committee constituted by the Ministry of Health.
