The MTN Ghana Foundation has opened nominations for the eighth edition of its flagship social impact initiative, Heroes of Change, inviting Ghanaians to nominate individuals whose selfless service is transforming lives and communities across the country.
The nominations, which opened on September 28, 2026, will remain open until October 19, 2026, with the public being encouraged to identify and nominate outstanding individuals whose work has demonstrated measurable and sustainable impact.
The initiative focuses on three key areas—Education, Health and Economic Empowerment—and seeks to bring national recognition and support to people who are making meaningful contributions to society, often without seeking public attention or financial reward.
According to MTN Ghana, nominations can be submitted through the company’s website, www.mtn.com.gh, or delivered physically at any MTN Service Centre across the country.
GHS400,000 PRIZE
The overall winner of Heroes of Change Season 8 will receive a cash prize of GH¢400,000 to support and expand the winner’s initiative.
In addition, winners in each of the three main categories—Education, Health and Economic Empowerment—will receive GH¢200,000 each to enable them to scale up their projects and reach more beneficiaries.
The Foundation will also reward the nominators of the 10 finalists, while special recognition will be given to outstanding contributions in Sustainability and Digital Innovation.
The organisers believe the financial support, visibility and recognition provided through the initiative will enable the selected heroes to extend the reach of their interventions and deepen their impact in communities.
‘ORDINARY PEOPLE, EXTRAORDINARY CHANGE’
Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer of MTN Ghana, Adwoa Wiafe, said the Heroes of Change programme was created to recognise individuals whose quiet acts of service continue to make a difference in the lives of others.
She said the initiative was designed around the belief that ordinary citizens could drive extraordinary change when they committed themselves to improving the wellbeing of their communities.
“Heroes of Change celebrates people who serve their communities without seeking recognition or reward. Through Season 8, we want to identify and support more of these remarkable individuals whose work is creating sustainable impact and inspiring others,” she said.
According to her, the initiative provides an opportunity for Ghanaians to shine a light on people whose contributions might otherwise go unnoticed despite the positive transformation they are creating.
30TH ANNIVERSARY
Mrs. Wiafe explained that the eighth edition of Heroes of Change was particularly significant because it forms part of MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
She said the programme aligns with MTN Ghana’s “Force for Good” philosophy, which seeks to harness the company’s resources, partnerships and platforms to create meaningful social impact and contribute to national development.
The anniversary, she noted, provides an additional opportunity for the company to celebrate individuals and organisations contributing to Ghana’s development while encouraging more citizens to participate in initiatives that improve lives.
SUPPORTING COMMUNITY CHANGEMAKERS
Since its establishment, Heroes of Change has become one of MTN Ghana Foundation’s platforms for identifying and supporting individuals working to address pressing social and economic challenges.
Through the initiative, beneficiaries have received recognition, increased visibility and financial assistance to strengthen their projects.
MTN Ghana Foundation said the programme has helped create greater awareness of community-based interventions and enabled some beneficiaries to expand their work and reach more people.
The Foundation is therefore urging members of the public to look beyond prominent personalities and identify individuals within their communities whose consistent efforts are producing tangible results.
FOUNDATION’S SOCIAL INVESTMENTS
The MTN Ghana Foundation was established in November 2007 to lead the company’s corporate social investment activities in Ghana.
Its interventions are centred on three major areas: Health, Education and Economic Empowerment, which also constitute the core categories for Heroes of Change.
The Foundation says it has so far undertaken 166 major projects nationwide, comprising 90 education projects, 55 healthcare projects, 15 economic empowerment projects and six community support initiatives.
The organisation maintains that its interventions are aimed at complementing national development efforts and addressing critical needs in communities across the country.
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
With the deadline set for October 19, 2026, Ghanaians have been encouraged to identify individuals whose work demonstrates commitment, compassion, sustainability and measurable community impact.
The Foundation is particularly interested in people whose initiatives have produced lasting benefits in education, healthcare and economic empowerment.
The public can submit nominations through the MTN Ghana website or at any MTN Service Centre.
The initiative is expected to generate nominations from communities across the country as MTN Ghana searches for the next group of individuals to be celebrated as Heroes of Change.
