MTN Group and the Ghanaian government have signed a landmark agreement to collaborate on the “One Million Coders Program,” aiming to equip young Ghanaians with artificial intelligence, coding, and digital skills. This partnership seeks to drive Ghana’s digital transformation.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona by Ghana’s Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Honourable Samuel Nartey George, and MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita.

Minister George emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating that MTN did not hesitate to support the initiative, which aligns with the government’s vision for digital transformation.

He also highlighted MTN’s significant investments in Ghana, including the donation of the MTN building, which will become a center for excellence in artificial intelligence and software development.

Mupita expressed his gratitude for the partnership, underscoring MTN’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s digital ecosystem development.

He emphasized the need for Africans to develop their own talent, software engineers, and coding skills to become future-fit.

The partnership follows the introduction of the MTN Skills Academy in 2023, which aims to provide digital and financial skills training across Africa.

The Academy offers courses in coding, web development, digital marketing, and data analytics, with the goal of ensuring 60% of youth and adults have basic proficiency in sustainable digital skills by 2025 .
