DR. MATTHEW Opoku Prempeh, nicknamed ‘Napo’, the Energy Minister, seems to be gradually becoming synonymous with the winning of top awards.
The minister, who doubles as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South Constituency, has won several awards in the past years.
Napo, who is widely described as a result-oriented leader, hard working and a team player, once again, received another important award in Accra over the weekend.
The Energy Minister was adjudged as Ghana’s Best Minister during the 3rd Africa Public Sector Conference, in recognition of his unique and sterling leadership style.
The enviable award was mainly presented to him for working to rapidly increase power generation, and revitalizing Ghana’s natural gas industry, among others.
“By focusing on key projects that aim to fully exploit the country’s resources, rapidly increase power generation and decrease heavy fuel imports, you have revitalized Ghana’s promising natural gas industry.
“Honourable, under your leadership, Ghana has made significant headway, establishing a competitive natural gas sector”, a statement, accompanying the award, indicated.
Wilhelmina Asamoah, the AG. Chief Director of the Ministry of Energy, on behalf of Dr. Opoku Prempeh, received a special plaque, amid cheers and applause from the crowd.
Napo, it would be recalled, bagged several awards, both in Ghana and abroad, when he was the Education Minister, especially after he worked to implement the free SHS policy.
During his days at the education ministry, he won the Best Performing Minister in the country and other top awards on several occasions, in recognition of his outstanding performance.
Napo was also honoured by the United Nations (UN) and the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), just to mention a few, for his extraordinary performance.
From all indications, Napo has extended his hard work and visionary leadership style to the Ministry of Energy, which is now booming. Indeed, the current award testifies his unique leadership style.
