NDC Ashanti Region Raises Alarm Over Omissions and Misrepresentations in Voter Registers

200

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region has observed with deep concern several serious anomalies in the voter registers provided to the party for the ongoing exhibition exercise. These issues, if not addressed promptly, could significantly undermine the integrity of the upcoming elections.

1. *Dubious Voter Transfers:*
The NDC has identified numerous instances of questionable voter transfers both into and out of certain constituencies within the Ashanti Region.
These transfers appear irregular and raise concerns about manipulation of the voter register to influence the outcome of the elections.

2. *Omission and Cross Transfer of Voters:*
In addition to the dubious transfers, we have also noted the omission of names of registered voters from the polling lists. In some cases, voters have been cross-transferred to polling stations that are far removed from their original stations, including transfers to locations outside their designated electoral areas.

These anomalies could disenfranchise legitimate voters and create unnecessary confusion on election day.

In light of these serious concerns, the NDC has formally written to the Electoral Commission (EC), detailing our observations and calling for immediate corrective action.

We have further requested a forum with the EC to discuss these issues comprehensively and ensure that they are resolved swiftly.

The NDC remains committed to the principles of democracy and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the upcoming elections are free, fair, and transparent.

We call on the Electoral Commission to address these issues with the urgency they require to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.

We urge all stakeholders to remain vigilant and to work together to ensure that the will of the people is respected and upheld.

Ashanti Regional Secretary
