The establishment of a Women’s Development Bank (WDB), to help Ghanaian women in their quest to improve their businesses and trade, is a well-thought-through policy by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ,Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi,Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC has disclosed
He said the policy, intended to be implemented when the party comes into office in January 2025, would largely improve the well-being and conditions of the majority of Ghanaian women.
This shows that NDC as a political party has some level of respect for women and have them at heart.
According to him, Ghanaian women entrepreneurs and traders had always faced the challenges of raising capital to enhance and boost their businesses and the Women’s Development Bank had been envisaged to assist them to overcome such bottlenecks.
Chairman Nana Akwasi said this when he addressed market women in a stop over at Obuasi Market during a unity walk with the parliamentary candidate for Obuasi West Constituency, Faustina Appiah Kannin this morning.
He used the opportunity to interact with the market women about the need to vote for the NDC in election 2024
He maintained that the terms and conditions of traditional banks, including the issue of collateral and equity, had remained a stumbling block to women entrepreneurs over the years which the bank would take a critical look at in order to enable more women to access the facility.
Nana Akwasi further indicated that the NDC had the welfare and well-being of all Ghanaians at heart, especially the poor and downtrodden, including women and children, with an open-door policy to welcome all into its fold and called on all Ghanaians to come on board the NDC bandwagon to help rescue the nation from the current abyss.
The NDC Ashanti regional chairman also used the visit to officially inaugurate the 2024 campaign launch of the party at Obuasi West constituency ,urging all to come on board for a resounding victory.
