Newmont donates vehicles to Ghana Armed Forces

Newmount Ghana operating in Ahafo Region has on Wednesday 12 June 2024, donated 3 brand new Toyota Hilux to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), in a short ceremony held at the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council, Goaso.

The vehicles which were valued at a cost of Gh 1,713,718.68 each are to assist the mobility of personnel deployed in the region.

The General Officer Commanding Central Command, Brig Gen Michael Opoku who received the vehicles on behalf of Military High Command, thanked Newmount for the gesture and assured that the vehicles would be put to good use for the purpose it was intended. He assured them that GAF will do all it can to ensure peace in the Ahafo Region with the support of stakeholders.

The General Manager of Newmount Ahafo South Mine, Mr Alex Kofi Annin who presented the vehicles indicated that Newmount prides itself by improving the lives and creating value for people that they associate themselves with.

He mentioned that the vehicles will assist the military to improve their patrols thereby protecting the region and its people. He used the opportunity to express his appreciation to the leadership of Newmount for their continuous support to the people of Ghana.

The Regional Minister, Hon George Boakye who supervised the handing over of the vehicles also chronicled the numerous support that the region has enjoyed from Newmount.

He added that the provision of the vehicles will help personnel to deal with security issues in the region so that people could go about their normal duties without any fear.
