Nkwanta South MCE, Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi, conducted a site visit today to assess the progress of several long-abandoned projects across the municipality. These projects, which have been under contract for the past eight years, include critical infrastructure such as roads leading to various villages, chip compounds, schools, and market facilities. During the visit, Hon. Antwi addressed concerns regarding the delayed completion of these essential projects.
In an interview with XYZ News and Ibrahim Nsor, the MCE revealed that he had received reports of material theft by contractors involved in the projects during the previous NPP government’s tenure. He issued a strong warning to all contractors currently engaged in or slated to work on the abandoned projects, emphasizing the importance of adhering to ethical standards and legal regulations. Hon. Antwi reiterated the advice of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, urging contractors to prioritize the completion of these projects and refrain from any illegal activities or unprofessional practices. He made it clear that any contractor found engaging in material theft or substandard work would face the full force of the law.
Furthermore, Hon. Awal outlined a timeline for the completion of the inspected projects. He stated that all projects assessed during the visit are expected to be completed by September. He also announced that the construction of roads and chip compounds would commence immediately, with work beginning before the end of August. The MCE expressed his unwavering dedication to ensuring that all abandoned projects are finalized before the end of 2025, underscoring his commitment to the development and progress of Nkwanta South.
