The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Offinso North, Hon. Ceasar Ofosu Acheampong, has urged Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates in the district to uphold high standards of discipline and academic excellence to promote the good image of the district.

He cautioned the students against engaging in activities that could tarnish their reputation and bring the name of Offinso North into disrepute as they transition into second-cycle education.
Hon. Acheampong said academic success must go hand in hand with good character, discipline and responsible behaviour, stressing that the beneficiaries had a responsibility to justify the confidence reposed in them by their parents, teachers and the district.
He made the call at a ceremony organised to present educational support items and cash awards to 30 best-performing BECE graduates in the district.
The event, held at the Akomadan D/A Methodist School, was aimed at supporting the outstanding students as they prepared to begin their secondary education.
The beneficiaries received a range of educational materials, including school trunks, boxes of chalk, mattresses and cash prizes to help ease some of the financial challenges associated with their transition from basic to second-cycle education.
Addressing the students, the DCE encouraged them to take advantage of the opportunity and remain focused on their studies.
He noted that the academic achievements of the beneficiaries had brought honour to the district and expressed the hope that they would sustain and improve upon their performance at the senior high school level.
According to him, the students should see themselves as ambassadors of Offinso North and conduct themselves in a manner that would continue to project a positive image of the district wherever they found themselves.
Hon. Acheampong further advised them to be disciplined in their interactions with colleagues, teachers and members of the community, saying that good character was an important component of their development.
He also encouraged them to set clear academic goals, work hard and make effective use of the opportunities available to them in their respective schools.
The DCE stressed that the district would be proud to see the beneficiaries excel in their chosen fields and eventually return to contribute to the development of their communities.
He therefore appealed to parents and guardians to continue supporting the students and providing the necessary environment for them to concentrate on their education.
Beneficiaries grateful
The beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude to the DCE and the Offinso North District Assembly for the gesture, describing the support as timely and motivating.
They said the educational materials and cash awards would help them settle into their new schools and reduce some of the financial burden on their parents and guardians.
The students assured the DCE that they would remain focused on their education, uphold discipline and work hard to achieve excellent results at the second-cycle level.
They also pledged to conduct themselves responsibly and serve as worthy ambassadors of Offinso North.

The presentation forms part of efforts to encourage academic excellence among young people in the district and motivate high-performing BECE candidates to pursue their education with renewed commitment.

The initiative also underscores the importance of supporting brilliant students, particularly at the critical transition from basic education to senior high school, where families often face additional educational expenses.
