The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region is set to embark on a massive clean-up exercise as part of efforts to improve sanitation, protect public health and promote a cleaner and healthier environment within the municipality.
The exercise, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, will commence at 6:00 a.m. and is expected to bring together residents, community leaders, assembly officials and other stakeholders to collectively rid communities of filth and improve environmental conditions.
According to the Assembly, led by Hon Anwel Sadat Ahmed ,the exercise will be undertaken simultaneously at key locations within the municipality, including Anloga Junction, Tech Junction, Deduako and Ayeduase.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to encourage residents to take greater responsibility for the cleanliness of their communities and to promote proper sanitation practices.
Residents within the municipality, particularly those living and operating businesses around the designated areas, are being encouraged to participate actively in the exercise.
The Assembly believes that regular communal clean-up exercises are essential to keeping public spaces clean, reducing the accumulation of waste and creating a healthier environment for residents.
Beyond the physical removal of waste, the exercise is also expected to serve as an opportunity to sensitise residents on the importance of responsible waste disposal and the need to maintain clean surroundings on a sustained basis.
The Assembly is therefore urging residents to come out in their numbers and support the exercise to ensure its success.
It has stressed that achieving a cleaner Oforikrom requires the collective effort of all residents and stakeholders, rather than relying solely on the Municipal Assembly.
The exercise is expected to cover the identified locations from the early hours of Saturday, with residents encouraged to make the necessary arrangements to participate.
The Assembly has consequently appealed to households, traders, transport operators, youth groups, community organisations and other stakeholders to join the exercise and contribute to improving sanitation standards across the municipality.
The campaign is being promoted under the slogan “Join us as we clean for a better Oforikrom!”, with the hashtags #CleanerOforikrom and #StillTheJobDeyGrounds.
The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly is optimistic that the exercise will strengthen public participation in sanitation activities and reinforce the need for residents to make cleanliness a daily responsibility.
It is also expected to contribute to the creation of a healthier and more attractive municipality for residents, businesses and visitors.
The Assembly has therefore called on everyone to participate actively in the exercise and help make Oforikrom cleaner, healthier and more environmentally friendly.
