Pensioner bondholders reject new DDEP

The Pensioner Bondholders has declared members intention not to be part of the government’s fresh Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).

Government has invited bondholders including pensioners to be part of the Programme, which will be restricted to ESLA Plc and Daakye Trust Plc bonds.

This was contained in a letter issued by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, September 13, calling on domestic bondholders to actively and voluntarily participate in the Programme.

At a press conference at Closag Auditorium in Accra on Monday, September 18, the Convenor of the Forum , Dr. Adu Anane Antwi,explained that no pensioner is available to accept the government’s offer.

He said they were aware government would be seeking extension after the first programme closed on Monday, February 13.

According to him, pensioners cannot be part of the newly announced offer, emphasiing that they have been exempted.

He said most of his members are awaiting maturity of their bonds on Monday.

Dr. Anane Antwi, therefore, served notice they will protest if government fails to pay them their dividends from next week Monday…..Story by Bugbila Moadow.
