The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday nominated Mr Omane Aboagye as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Juaben.
Announcing this at a gathering of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives at the Prempeh Assembly Hall on Wednesday, the Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah said the nominee has been informed.
He however noted that formal confirmation processes are yet to be commenced.
The nominee is currently serving as the elected Assembly Member for New Koforidua electoral area in Juaben.
BACKGROUND:
The Juaben Municipal Assembly has been without a Chief Executive officer for close to a year.
This had come about owing to the non renewal of the former MCE’s mandate early last year.
The Municipality also failed to settle the matter when it rejected the nomination of one Alexander Safo Kantaka, current NPP Chairman for Juaben constituency on about four occasions after his name was mentioned late last year by the President.
Being an Assembly Member and having conducted himself well from the checks this portal has done, Mr Omane Aboagye is expected to have a smooth confirmation process.
EUPHORIA:
Residents at New Koforidua, the Electoral area where the MCE nominee comes from are said to have shown profuse happiness upon hearing the news.
Some are said to have rejoiced on the streets of the community while others amidst loud shouts prayed and thanked God.
They praised the President for choosing their Assembly member as MCE nominee.
They were upbeat that their leader would distinguish himself very well so that the would justify the confidence reposed in him and has thus nominated him for such a high office.
If the nominee is successful, then all 43 MMDAs in Ashanti will have their Chief Executives.
