Prestea Huni-Vally Municipality :MCE Distributes 900 Desks To Schools

As a means of improving the level of education within the municipality, the municipal chief executive of  Prestea Huni- valley in the Western Region, Hon. Mozart Kwaku Owuh has distributed 900 desks (600 dual and 300 mono) to schools within the municipality.  The presentation was in collaboration with the Member of Parliament Hon. Mrs. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi and the Municipal Assembly.  The desks were funded from the District Development Fund.  During the presentation yesterday, the MCE said, it is the aim of the assembly to present more than 4, 000 dual and mono desks to schools by the end of 2019 so as to do away with deficiencies of furniture in schools within the municipality.Hon. Mozart said, they believe in the adage of “catching them young and they shall be yours forever “hence the MCE and the MP are concentrating on the early childhood development of children within the municipality. According to him, very soon there will be a sod cutting ceremony for the commencement of early childhood schools at Damang M/A  and Dwabeng. He added that the MP is also building a KG block at Konduakrom. A three units classroom block at Awoduya and one ultra-modern KG blocks (made up of classrooms, store room, kitchen, dining hall staff common room and WC) at Yareyeya will also be inaugurated very soon, he added.  He was however not happy with the performance on the district league table even though the current rank of 116 was an improvement on the previous rank of 205.
