The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) is reassuring electricity consumers in Ghana’s Ashanti Region that relief is underway as the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) intensifies efforts to resolve recent power supply disruptions.

Speaking on Angel FM this morning, PURC urged patience and understanding, stating, “We are closely monitoring the situation and ensuring ECG addresses all challenges to restore a stable power supply.”

The region has experienced intermittent outages over the past few weeks, primarily due to ECG’s planned maintenance aimed at reinforcing the grid and enhancing reliability. Other factors contributing to the disruptions include upstream challenges, localised technical disturbances, and Right-of-way issues negatively impacting distribution projects.

“ECG has been working tirelessly to address these issues, and we commend their efforts,” The PURC said. However, the Commission emphasised the need to improve communication with consumers about planned and unplanned outages. “We encourage ECG to keep consumers informed about maintenance schedules and fault repairs,” the Commission added.

Residents are also being urged to report any concerns or unusual delays in the power supply. As ECG strives to stabilise power supply in the Ashanti Region, PURC remains committed to ensuring the company prioritises customer needs and delivers reliable electricity services.
