Small Scale Miners Association Poised To Partner Government To Fight Against ‘Galamsey’

The Newly inaugurated Western Regional chapter of Small Scale Miners Association have strongly pledged to collaborate with the government in the fight against illegal mining in the region and the country at large.
Addressing a news conference at Wasa Akropong in the western region, chairman for the association, Dr. Nana Twum Barima V, insisted that they are very poised for their collaboration with the government to fight vehemently to uproot illegal miners from the country.
With this, he added that the government needed not to have even sent soldiers or operation vanguards to the area because they could’ve taken such task upon themselves and fight illegal miners for the government.
Nana, therefore pleaded with the government to do a broader consultations concerning the vowed fight.
Nana Twum Barima V, again added they are very willing to give information about the illegal miners as to where they work within the region.
According to him the association will buy for themselves vehicles to patrol all the illegal mining sites.
He then entreated all legal small scale miners within the region whose excavators have been burnt by the government to take heart, for the association will take proper action after a thorough investigation.
