In a decisive move to enhance security and improve living conditions in the Kronum community of the Suame Municipality, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Frank Owusu Ansah has overseen the installation of street lights along the principal streets of Kronum High‑Street.

The initiative, described by local residents as “lighting up Kronum,” aims to eradicate prolonged darkness that has plagued the area for several years and to create a safer environment for residents and motorists alike.

According to information gathered, the MCE’s “wisdom to ensure security in the municipality” prompted the procurement and installation of modern street lighting fixtures along the high‑street.

The project, executed under the supervision of the Suame Municipal Assembly, has furnished the stretch with bright, energy‑efficient street bulbs, significantly reducing the shroud of darkness that previously enveloped Kronum, especially after dusk.

In statements collected from community members, residents expressed profound gratitude and praise for Hon Frank Owusu Ansah’s intervention.

“The area has been in darkness for several years, making it difficult for us to move freely at night without fear,” said one resident, speaking on condition of anonymity.

“Now, the move has not only beautified the area but also promises to prevent vehicular accidents at night and boost security.” Another community leader noted that the illumination has already engendered a palpable sense of safety, allowing residents to conduct evening activities with greater confidence and peace of mind.

The MCE, in his remarks to local media, underscored that the street‑lighting project is a cornerstone of the Suame Municipal Assembly’s commitment to improving public infrastructure and safeguarding citizens.

“Our objective is to ensure that Kronum and its environs are free from darkness, enabling people to move about without fear,” Frank Owusu Ansah explained. He added that the initiative aligns with broader regional efforts to enhance urban safety through better lighting, which has proven effective in reducing crime rates and road mishaps during nighttime.

Residents further highlighted that the aesthetic uplift brought about by the well‑lit high‑street has enhanced the overall appeal of Kronum, fostering a sense of pride among locals.

The improved visibility is also expected to support local commerce, as businesses can extend operating hours safely. Moreover, stakeholders anticipate that the success of the Kronum project will catalyze similar interventions in other parts of the Suame Municipality, reinforcing the Assembly’s focus on sustainable development and citizen well‑being.

The Suame Municipal Assembly has pledged continued investment in infrastructure that prioritizes safety, security, and quality of life for its constituents.

Community members have vowed to cooperate with the Assembly and local security agencies to ensure the sustained benefits of the street‑lighting scheme, including vigilant reporting of any malfunctions or vandalism attempts.

The “lighting up of Kronum High‑Street” has thus been received as a timely and transformative development, reflecting positively on the leadership of MCE Frank Owusu Ansah and reinforcing public confidence in local governance’s capacity to deliver tangible improvements to everyday life in the Ashanti Region.
