Residents of the Tano South Municipality in the Ahafo Region are expected to converge at the Presbyterian Church in Bechem on Thursday, July 30, 2026, for a major Town Hall Meeting aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability and citizen participation in local governance.
The event, which is being organised by the Tano South Municipal Assembly under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, is themed “Accounting to the People of the Municipality.”
The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to keeping residents informed about government interventions, ongoing infrastructure projects, policy implementation and development programmes while creating an open platform for citizens to engage directly with municipal authorities.
The meeting is scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church, Bechem, and is expected to attract traditional authorities, government officials, opinion leaders, assembly members, youth groups, civil society organisations and residents from across the municipality.
The Omanhene of the Bechem Traditional Council, Nana Asiwobour Osei Bonsu III, will chair the programme, underscoring the importance of collaboration between traditional leadership and local government in advancing development.
Also expected at the meeting are the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Mrs. Charity Gardiner, the Member of Parliament for Tano South, Hon. Charles Asiedu, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, who will lead the Assembly’s presentation on its achievements, ongoing projects and future development plans.
According to the Assembly, the Town Hall Meeting is designed to deepen public participation in governance by giving residents first-hand information on how public resources have been utilised and the progress made in delivering essential services and infrastructure across the municipality.
Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions, make recommendations and express concerns on issues affecting their communities.
The Assembly believes such engagements will enhance accountability, improve service delivery and strengthen the relationship between local authorities and the people they serve.
Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong has therefore encouraged all residents, community leaders, religious organisations, youth associations, traders, farmers and other stakeholders to attend the meeting and actively contribute to discussions that will shape the future of Tano South.
He stressed that sustainable development can only be achieved when citizens are actively involved in decision-making processes and when government institutions remain accountable to the people.
The Assembly described the event as an important democratic platform that reflects government’s commitment to transparent governance and inclusive development, urging residents to come along with their questions, ideas and constructive suggestions.
The Town Hall Meeting is expected to provide a comprehensive overview of development initiatives undertaken within the municipality while fostering a renewed partnership between the Assembly and the people in pursuit of accelerated socio-economic growth.
