The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tano South in the Ahafo Region , Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and inclusive governance by engaging residents in a Municipal Town Hall Meeting held at the Presbyterian Church in Bechem.
The event, which brought together traditional authorities, government officials, assembly members, religious leaders, security agencies, youth and women groups, as well as residents from across the municipality, was held under the theme, “Accounting to the People of the Municipality.”
The meeting was chaired by the Omanhene of the Bechem Traditional Council, Nana Asiwobour Osei Bonsu III, and attended by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano South, Hon. Charles Asiedu, alongside officials of the Municipal Assembly.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong explained that the town hall meeting formed part of government’s commitment to keeping citizens informed about development activities and ensuring that the people actively participate in decision-making processes.
He presented a comprehensive account of the Assembly’s performance across key sectors, including road infrastructure, healthcare delivery, education, water supply, sanitation and employment initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for the youth.
According to the MCE, the Assembly has remained focused on improving the living conditions of residents through the implementation of development projects and programmes designed to enhance socio-economic growth throughout the municipality.
He stressed that development can only be meaningful when citizens are actively involved in governance, adding that the Assembly would continue to maintain an open-door policy that encourages public participation and accountability.
The forum also provided residents with the opportunity to express their concerns, make suggestions and outline their expectations for the municipality.
Issues relating to market infrastructure, security, roads, sanitation, education and other social services featured prominently during the interactive session, with participants calling for accelerated development in various communities.
Hon. Frimpong assured residents that all concerns and recommendations raised during the engagement would be carefully considered and incorporated into the Assembly’s 2026/2027 development plans.
“This is governance with the people, not for the people. Transparency and accountability remain the foundation of our administration,” he stated.
The MCE further indicated that the Municipal Assembly would continue to organise such engagements to strengthen the relationship between government and the people while ensuring that development priorities reflect the genuine needs of residents.
He expressed appreciation to the Omanhene and traditional authorities, the Member of Parliament, religious leaders, security agencies, assembly members, youth organisations, women groups and all residents who participated in the meeting.
Hon. Frimpong reiterated that the engagement marked another step in bringing government closer to the people and pledged that the Assembly would sustain regular consultations to promote participatory governance and responsive leadership in Tano South.
