On Wednesday, as part of activities marking the fight against cancers, the Unlimited Cancer Care International, UCCI, team traveled to Offinso in the Ashanti Region of Ghana to donate assorted gifts to the Physically Challenged Action Foundation.

The team, which has been working in Ghana for the past two weeks, drove throughout the night, arriving in Bolgatanga in the wee hours of yesterday.

Led by its Founder and President, Obaapa Jackson (Agivert Jackson), the team traveled to Sandema, the capital town of the Builsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region of Ghana.

In Sandema the team, visited the Azantilow Senior High School (formerly Sandema Secondary Technical School) where the headmaster and the over two thousand (2,000) students welcomed us to a rousing welcome.

Ms. Jackson addressed the students on pragmatic measures at self-checking for symptoms of cancers and donated hundreds of exercise books, book packs and mathematical sets to the school.

We later toured the school library.

Sad story.

The team later called on the Medical staff at the Sandema Hospital.

It was an eyesore.

Ms. Jackson and the team made assorted donations to the hospital staff and patients at the maternity and female wards.

Finally the UCCI visited the Samdema library.

Here, it was bad. The library can’t afford even light bulbs for the place.

An officer at the Sandema education office ambused us with the attached pictures he had taken of a school in the Municipality.

These pictures are from the Sinyangsa Primary School in Wiaga, a suburb of the Municipality.

These are kids sitting on the floor to study and to take exams.

He made a passionate appeal for chairs, among other educational needs.

Touched, the team has taken up this fight.

Watch this space for updates.
