Vera Andoh Foundation supports Weija Leprosarium

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Vera Andoh Foundation, Ms Vera Andoh, has indicated that taking care of the vulnerable in society should be a shared responsibility and not the government alone.

She explained that although it was the government’s responsibility to take care of the vulnerable in the country, complementing government efforts at supporting them should be from both people in the private and public sectors to ease the pressure on the government.
Ms Vera Andoh, made the call when she presented assorted food items to the Weija Leprosarium in Accra on Wednesday.
The items presented were bags of gari, toiletries, drinks, water and rice among others.

The donation followed a request made by the leprosarium and was aimed at supporting their basic needs and their upkeep.

Ms Andoh assured the home of her preparedness to visit them regularly to interact with and support their activities.
She appealed to other philanthropists, cooperate organizations and others to consider supporting the Leprosarium which needed more support always to enhance their welfare and upkeep.

The CEO was upbeat that the items donated would go a long way to improve the welfare of the inmates.

The Director of the Weija Leprosarium, Rev. Andrew Campbell, expressed his appreciation to the Vera Andoh Foundation for the visit and the donation which would go a long way to boost their day-to-day upkeep.

He described the donation as being handy as it came at a time they needed it most.
