The Western Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Nelson, accompanied by high-ranking members of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), conducted a high-profile working visit to the Wassa Amenfi Central District Assembly today.

The visit, aimed at monitoring administrative progress and galvanizing the local workforce, underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening local governance and accelerating rural development.

Upon arrival, the Minister and his entourage were formally received by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Peter Amponsah, alongside the District Coordinating Director and the assembly’s technical and administrative staff.

Addressing a cross-section of the Assembly staff, Hon. Joseph Nelson delivered a compelling charge focused on the “human capital” element of governance. He noted that while policy and funding are vital, the actualization of the district’s potential rests squarely on the shoulders of the personnel.

The Minister underscored three pillars of successful public service:

Commitment: Going beyond the basic requirements of the job to serve the community.

Discipline: Adherence to administrative protocols and the efficient management of time.

Dedication: A persistent focus on achieving the assembly’s developmental goals despite logistical hurdles.

“A strong work ethic among staff is not merely a professional requirement; it is a critical catalyst for accelerating development,” Hon. Nelson stated. “The people of Wassa Amenfi Central rely on this Assembly for essential service delivery, and we must ensure that our conduct reflects the urgency of their needs.”

The visit also served as a platform for the Regional Coordinating Council to assess the unique challenges facing the district.

As Wassa Amenfi Central is a relatively young administrative entity, the RCC highlighted the gap in existing infrastructure and the necessity of creative problem-solving.

Members of the RCC encouraged staff to remain resilient, noting that the foundation of a new district is often the most difficult to build. They emphasized that the lack of expansive facilities should not be viewed as a deterrent but as a motivation to work harder to attract investment and state resources through high performance and transparency.

He said, the success of the district is not the sole responsibility of the DCE but a collaborative result of every department.

He ncouraged them to implement projects that provide long-term benefits rather than short-term fixes.

“Maintaining high standards in reporting and financial management to ensure the district remains a priority for regional support.” He indicated.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Peter Amponsah, expressed his profound gratitude for the Minister’s visit, describing it as a “morale booster” for the staff.

He reaffirmed the Assembly’s loyalty to the regional mandate and assured the Minister that the staff is ready to translate his words into tangible developmental outcomes.

“We are a district on the rise,” Hon. Amponsah remarked. “With the guidance of the Regional Minister and the support of the RCC, we are confident that Wassa Amenfi Central will become a model for local governance in the Western Region.”

The working visit concluded with a closed-door briefing where the Minister was updated on ongoing projects, including road improvements, educational infrastructure, and healthcare initiatives within the district.
