The final burial rites, known as “Dote Yie,” of the revered Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III were to take place today, Thursday,September 18, 2025.

A queen who ruled with wisdom from 1927 to 2025, Nana Konadu Yiadom III’s passing marked the end of an era, and her people were gathering to pay their last respects.

As the news of the impending ceremony spread, Manhyia Palace issued a public announcement reminding all chiefs, traditional leaders, and members of the public of crucial directives for the burial rites. The aim was to ensure a safe and orderly ceremony befitting the stature of the late Asantehemaa.

Safety Directives for the Dote Yie.

– No Live Ammunition: The use of live ammunition was strictly prohibited to prevent any accidents or untoward incidents.
– Musketry Guidelines: Firing of muskets was allowed only when directed towards the sky—strictly not at any person or the ground.
– Compliance Warning: Anyone found violating these rules would face arrest and appropriate legal action.

The Funeral Planning Committee, which signed the announcement, urged all attendees to adhere strictly to these regulations.

The committee’s emphasis on safety underscored the importance of honoring Nana Konadu Yiadom III’s legacy in a dignified and secure manner.
