A recent social media post by Dr Razak Kojo Opoku, founding President of UP Tradition Institute has sparked controversy over the “Win With Bawumia, aka 9 pɛ” slogan, with him accusing the campaign team of engaging in cheap sloganeering.

The post highlights a series of historical examples where candidates with significant leads in Ghanaian Presidential elections ultimately lost.

Dr Razak Kojo Opoku cites three instances where candidates with substantial leads failed to win the presidency:

He said,In 2004,former President John Evans Atta Mills needed only 7% more votes to win but lost to former President John Kufuor.

Again,in n 2012, Nana Akufo-Addo required just 0.24% more votes to win but lost to President John Mahama.

Lastly he said,on 2020, John Mahama needed 6% more votes to win but lost to Nana Akufo-Addo.

The post also questions the electoral performance of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President and presumptive NPP flagbearer, in the 2024 presidential election.
