The Afigya Kwabre South Constituency chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, has described the role of chiefs as crucial in national development.
He explained that, although chiefs do not part-take in partisan politics, their advice, inputs and support to politicians bring improvement and development of the nation’s democracy irrespective of which party was in power.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah announced this when he led the leadership of the NPP in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency to pay a curtsey call at the Palace of the chief of Kodie, the capital of the Afigya Kwabre District in the Ashanti region.
Other dignitaries who accompanied the Constituency Chairman were the Member of Parliament for the area, Dr William Owureku Aidoo, the District Chief Executive, Mr Christian Adu Poku and other executives and members of the party.
The visit was aimed at informing the traditional authorities that the NPP had started its campaign for the 2020 election in the constituency.
The constituency chairman assured the people that the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo-led government would share the national cake equally to the people irrespective of political, ethnic, social or religious affiliation.
The District Chief Executive for Afigya Kwabre South, Mr Christian Adu Poku, took time to enumerate the various development projects that has taken place during the Nana Akufo Addo-led government.
He assured the people that all communities would receive their fair share of projects in the district and urged them to vote massively for the party during the 2020 general election.
The Member of Parliament Afigya Kwabre South, Dr William Owureku Aiddo, announced that 50,000 led bulbs would soon be distributed in the district very soon.
Again he stated that, 5000 street lights are ready for distribution in all communities across the constituency and assured the people of more development projects if they voted for the NPP government during the 2020 general election.
On his part , Nana Yaw Barima Peprah,Chief of Kodie, lauded the government for the massive development in the area and called for more.
He urged all politicians to embark on their campaign devoid of insults and any activities that would lead to conflict.
