THE Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has strongly warned members against the tendency of supporting Independent parliamentary candidates, rather than the party’s, in the December 7th elections.

He said, such independent candidates are cunningly moving about the constituency claiming to be true NPP members, but are rather wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Chairman Wontumi, as he is affectionately called says the party will not hesitate to suspend anyone whose actions and inactions become detrimental to the party’s quest to win majority of Parliament seats across the country.

According to Wontumi, it is hypocritical for a party member to claim to love Bawumia but detests the party’s Parliamentary candidate, adding that such attitude drives away potential voters and defeats the resolve to breaking the 8.

Speaking to leadership of the Bekwai constituency, today, chairman Wontumi, described the independent candidate in Bekwai as “ungrateful and greedy” and advised that he rather joins the NPP and follow due process.

In the view of Wontumi, the action of the independent candidate clearly shows that he is operating under the sponsorship of John Mahama and the NDC.

Chairman Antwi Bosiako further sent a strong signal to anybody who tries to discredit the party and its elected leadership and that such persons will have him to contend with.

therefore charged party activists, particularly, in the Bekwai constituency not to do anything that will jeopardise the electoral fortunes of the party, insisting that no one will be spared if found to be working for the independent candidate in the constituency.

The Regional chairman is in the Bekwai constituency as part of his constituency tour. As part of activities, the Regional Chairman and his entourage held meetings with the leadership of the Constituency, including Parliamentary candidate, Lawyer Ralph Opoku-Adusei, MCE, Electoral Area Coordinators, Assembly members, council of Elders of the party and other key party members.

To Chairman Wontumi, winning the election 2024 elections is about hardwork, unity, prayers and God’s grace, and appealed to the Bekwai constituency and its leadership to be solid in rallying support for the PC and Dr Bawumia.

Later, at the Palace of the Bekwai Zongo chief, chairman Wontumi led his delegation to request for prayers for Bawumia’s ambition as well as the PC.

He charged the Muslim clergy and leaders in Bekwai to support their own, not because Bawumia is a Muslim, but because he has proven himself to be the best choice for the country.

Speaking through his Spokesperson, the Sarkin Zango said, they have a believe that any Muslim is a brother and as such, they will support the ambition of one of their own who has proven himself worthy of the office he seeks to occupy.
