2014 National Best Farmer, George Asamoah Amankwah , has been installed as chief of Manso Dominase in the Manso-Nkwanta Traditional area of the Ashanti Region.
At a colourful ceremony in the Palace of Manso-Nkwanta hene , the installation attracted many people including politicians, members of Ridge fun club, members of East Legon Executive club, business community, traditional rulers and the general public.
Mr George Asamoah Amankwah’s stool name is Nana Asamoah Amankwah Banoh.
He succeeded his late Uncle Nana Banoh who ruled for many years.
Swearing the oath of allegiance to Nana Bi Kusi Appiah , paramount chief of Manso-Nkwanta Tradtional area, the newly-enstooled chief of Manso Dimonase, who will also be Apakanhene of Manso-Nkwanta Tradtional area, promised that he would help the area to organize the youth to undertake communal labour, initiate development projects and defend the people against the recent spate of armed robbery.
He also pledged to ensure that any amount meant for the development of the community would be put to proper use.
He announced his plans to discuss with the chief and his elders to institute an educational fund to assist needy and brilliant students in the community.
He reiterated his commitment to restore lost forest cover in the area.
He said the traditional council will be involved in aggressive afforestation and reforestation.
He said as a farmer, the issue of forests had become prominent in the area and as well as its impacts on climate change.
Known in private life as Mr George Asamoah Amankwah, the new chief is the chairman of Europe Auto Land Limited, Chairman Springs and Bolts Company Limited as well as the 2014 National Best Farmer.
