The Ashanti Regional Pig Famers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has announced an upward adjustment in prices of its products from Ghc14 to Ghc18 effective September 20, 2022
According to Daniel Yaw Siam, Ashanti regional Chairman of PFAG the hike was as a result of high cost of prices of feed and among others.
Mr. Siam made the announcement during a handing over ceremony and swearing in of New Regional executive at the premises of Kumasi Metro Directorate of Ministry of Food and Agriculture(MoFA).
He indicated that prices of pig feed kept rising amidst the challenges of the African Swine fever, adding that had put many pig farmers out of business.
This, he noted needed the upward adjustment and pragmatic steps to salvage the situation.
He therefore appealed to the public to bear with the Association by accepting the marginal increase as efforts were being made to grow the pig farming industry.
He, however, expressed grave concerns over government’s failure to fulfil its promise of compensating pig farmers who lost most of their pigs through the evasion of Africa Swine fever.
