200,000 out of the number has been planted within the Tano-Offin forest reserve whereas the remaining 100,000 has been distributed to individuals to plant in their various farms and place of residence.

Chief Executive Hon Joseph Frimpong Bonsu told this medium in an exclusive interview that he is determined towards ensuring that the natural forest cover in the district is preserved.

“I’m determined to preserve our forest”, he stressed.

He made the above statement following the drastic decline of Ghana’s forest cover all owing to illegal mining, illegal logging, urbanization, among others.

The government official bemoaned how human activities have led to the destruction of several hectares of Ghana’s forest.

He therefore advised residents especially farmers to refrain from activities that will impact negatively on the forest cover of the district.
