General Corporal Opoku, a police officer assigned to Breman Brakwa in the central region’s Asikuma Odoben Brakwa district, has donated money to all Ennim Memorial Experimental School (EMESCO) candidates who took the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Some educational materials were also donated to the students, including books, pencils, pens, and math sets.

Additionally, he paid the class costs for 20 students at Brakwa D/A Basic School.

Among other reasons, the items are to help increase access to education in the District and provide infrastructure for the schools.

The donations were given by General Corporal Opoku through his personal charity, the “Boafo Foundation.”

He said in a media interview that last year (2022), a similar thing happened to some students in the Ashanti region, and this year they chose to move to another area.

He claims that some of the pupils are skipping school not out of choice but rather because their parents or guardians find it difficult to afford to take care of them.

“I am aware of the difficulties parents in rural areas and less privileged homes go through with respect to equipping and paying off their ward fees; therefore, I am presenting this amount as a token to support them. I know this will not be enough to offset their challenges as far as their education is concerned, but it’s a token from me and my team,”, he said.

He also took turns to advise and encourage the students on their educational journey, especially those who had just completed JHS, urging them to study hard.

He appealed to the populace to show their support so he could do more for other communities and the nation as a whole.

The beneficiary students were elated for the intervention by General Corporal Opoku.
