Joana Gyan Foundation screens thousands of residents on breast cancer

Joana Gyan Foundation has on last Monday,October 14,2024 embarked on series of brest screening and awareness campaign in the Amenfi Central Constituency in the Western Region.

The awareness creation campaign and the free screening exercise is being sponsored by Hon Joana Gyan Cudjoe,NDC parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central.

The exercise primarily involved screening women for free, and it included a sensitization program on how to self-check and detect breast lumps.

According to the NDC Parliamentary candidate for the area, the annual event aims to screen a significant number of people in the constituency.

As the Parliament candidate for Amenfi Central , I deemed it wise to bring this awareness to my constituents. We conducted a similar exercise last year and will continue to do so in the coming years to ensure that women are screened for breast cancer.

This morning at Ayiem,a community in the aforementioned constituency, we educated women on how to perform self-examinations to detect any lumps in their breasts. I encourage all women to participate in the exercise,” Joana Gyan Cudjoe said.

She also mentioned that they regularly screen for other health-related illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, malaria and hepatitis B, among others. This is done to keep the constituents in good health at all times.

The Joana Gyan foundation is conducting this exercise at seven different locations within the Amenfi Central constituency .

Beneficiary communities are, Manso Amanfi,Amuni, Kwamang, Ayiem,Agona, Kwakuboah and Adjakaamanso.

According to her, her involvement in the exercise is a way to give back to society while ensuring that breast cancer awareness reaches ordinary Ghanaians effectively.

She said,the team is committed to supporting the campaign.

“We recognize that early detection is crucial, as delays can lead to more severe consequences. That’s why we are bringing this initiative to the doorstep of the people in Amenfi Central”.She maintained.
