The Ashanti Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has assured stakeholders in the Ashanti region of its continuous resolve to effectively balance the interests of consumers and service providers without bias.

The regional office gave this assurance during a negotiated settlement meeting facilitated by the Commission between the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and an aggrieved Complainant who complained about a disputed bill against ECG.

This commitment is underscored by the Commission’s continuous fairness in enforcing relevant regulations in Legislative Instrument 2413 (L.I. 2413) and other applicable laws. The Commission noted that its primary objective is to ensure that consumers and utility service providers fulfil their obligations and responsibilities reasonably, transparently, and efficiently.

Therefore, the Commission called on stakeholders, including the regulated distribution utilities and consumers in the Ashanti Region, to ensure that they discharge their obligations according to the standards in the electricity and water sectors.
