The Suame Municipal Chief Executive, Frank Owusu Ansah, has assured traders affected by the recent fire incident at the Suame market that they will be allocated shops in the redeveloped market.

The MCE made this commitment as the assembly prepares to provide immediate support to the affected traders, whose names have been documented.

The Ashanti Region Fire Commander, Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) II Peter Tetteh, has launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. The fire service has intensified its education on fire safety in various markets and is advocating for the establishment of fire posts in markets to enhance firefighting efforts.

ACFO II Peter Tetteh emphasized the importance of fire safety education, noting that traders in the Anomagye Junction market can attest to the fire service’s efforts in educating them on fire safety measures. He suggested that having fire posts in markets would help to combat fires more effectively.

The affected traders are hopeful that the redevelopment of the market will provide them with better facilities and opportunities to rebuild their businesses. The Suame Municipal Assembly’s commitment to supporting the traders is a welcome relief to those affected by the fire incident.
