The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released an official notification regarding the upcoming promotion examinations for teachers, scheduled to take place on Monday, 29th December 2025, and Tuesday, 30th December 2025.
The announcement, issued by the Acting Deputy Director-General (Quality & Administration), Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, outlines the detailed arrangements for the examinations, which are part of the annual promotion cycle for eligible teachers within the service.
According to the circular dated 6th December 2025, the promotion examinations will be conducted in two sessions each day, targeting specific positions within the teaching cadre.
On 29th December 2025, the first session will begin at 09:00 AM for candidates aspiring to the rank of _Assistant Director I (AD I)_ and _Principal Superintendent (PS)_, with the examination running until 12:00 noon. The second session on the same day will also run from 09:00 AM to 12:00 noon, focusing on _Assistant Director I (AD I)_ and _Deputy Director (DD)_ positions.
The following day, 30th December 2025, the examination timetable mirrors the first day’s structure, with two identical sessions from 09:00 AM to 12:00 noon, covering the same designated positions.
The GES has instructed all candidates to report to their assigned examination centres no later than 08:30 AM on each day of the exams. Candidates are required to present their original Ghana ID cards and any other necessary materials. Further details regarding examination venues, lists of eligible candidates, and invigilation rosters will be communicated at a later stage.
In the circular, Regional Directors of Education are urged to ensure that the information reaches all schools and teachers under their jurisdiction promptly. Additionally, the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the College of Tutors (CCT) have been requested to disseminate the information to their members and encourage eligible teachers to participate in the examinations.
The GES expressed appreciation for the cooperation of all stakeholders in making the promotion process smooth and successful, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the scheduled timelines to facilitate an orderly administration of the examinations.
