The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West District, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, officially introduced the new District Police Commander, Superintendent Andrews Okonenje to the Omanhene of Mpasaso No.1, Nana Tabri Gyansah.
The formal introduction ceremony took place at the Omanhene’s Palace in Mpasaso and was attended by traditional authorities, security personnel, Assembly Members and other stakeholders.
In his address, Hon. Abubakar Sedik emphasised the importance of strong collaboration between traditional leadership, the District Assembly and the security agencies to ensure peace and development in the District. He described security as a shared responsibility and called on the chiefs and people of the area to extend their full support to the new Police Commander in the discharge of his duties.
The DCE further reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to working closely with the Ghana Police Service to maintain law and order, protect lives and property and create a safe environment for investment and socio-economic development.
Speaking on the occasion, Superintendent Andrews Okonenje expressed gratitude to the Omanhene and the traditional council for the warm reception. He pledged to adopt a community-policing approach, work closely with traditional rulers and residents, and ensure professionalism, discipline and fairness in policing within the District.
He also appealed to the public to cooperate with the police by providing timely information to help combat crime and maintain peace.
In his remarks, Nana Tabri Gyansah, the Omanhene of Mpasaso No.1, welcomed the new District Police Commander and assured him of the traditional authority’s full support. The paramount chief urged the police to work in harmony with the community, upholding justice and respect for human rights at all times.
The ceremony marked a renewed commitment among traditional leaders, the District Assembly and the Ghana Police Service to strengthen security and promote peaceful coexistence in the Ahafo Ano South West District.
