The Suame Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region has taken a significant step toward improving socio-economic development and strengthening essential public services, following the sod-cutting for a number of key infrastructural projects across four communities within the municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Suame, Hon. Frank Owusu Ansah, together with Assembly officials, traditional authorities and other dignitaries, officially launched the construction of major educational, health and potable water projects aimed at enhancing the living standards of residents, particularly in underserved areas.
The projects form part of government’s broader agenda to expand access to quality education, improve healthcare delivery and address persistent water challenges within rural and peri-urban communities.
Major Projects Across Four Communities.
The developmental initiatives include the commencement of:
Sod-cutting at Suame Pintinka for the construction of 20 mechanized boreholes to serve 20 communities across the municipality.
Construction of a modern Health Centre at Kronum Aboahia.
Construction of another Health Centre at Bremang Nkwantwima.
Construction of a six-unit classroom block with an 11-seater toilet facility at Kronum Kwapra.
These projects are expected to significantly improve access to safe drinking water, quality healthcare services and a conducive learning environment for children within the beneficiary communities.
Assembly Committed to Closing Infrastructure Gaps.
Speaking to the media after the sod-cutting ceremonies, Hon. Frank Owusu Ansah explained that the projects were carefully selected to address critical infrastructure deficits within the municipality.
According to him, Suame has witnessed increasing demand for social services due to population growth, and it has become necessary for the Assembly, in collaboration with government, to invest in essential community facilities.
“These projects are aimed at addressing key infrastructure gaps in the municipality, particularly in education, potable water supply and quality healthcare delivery,” the MCE stated.
He emphasized that the initiative reflects the Assembly’s commitment to improving service delivery and ensuring that residents, especially those in rural communities, benefit from development interventions.
Hon. Owusu Ansah further noted that access to clean water and proper healthcare are fundamental to community well-being, while investment in education remains crucial to the future development of the municipality.
“This demonstrates our dedication as an Assembly to improving the living conditions of our people and ensuring that no community is left behind in the development agenda,” he added.
Boosting Healthcare Delivery.
The construction of new health centres at Kronum Aboahia and Bremang Nkwantwima is expected to reduce the burden on existing facilities and improve healthcare access for residents who previously had to travel long distances for medical attention.
Health officials present at the event indicated that once completed, the centres will provide primary healthcare services including maternal care, outpatient services and emergency response support.
Community members have welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and essential for enhancing healthcare delivery within the municipality.
Improving Education Infrastructure
In the area of education, the six-unit classroom block with an 11-seater toilet facility at Kronum Kwapra is expected to ease congestion in schools and provide a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Education stakeholders believe the project will also improve sanitation standards, promote hygiene among pupils and help boost academic performance.
Addressing Water Challenges
One of the most significant interventions under the initiative is the construction of 20 mechanized boreholes to serve 20 communities within Suame Municipality.
The project is expected to provide reliable access to clean drinking water, especially in areas where residents have struggled with inadequate water supply.
Following the sod-cutting ceremony at Suame Pintinka, the Chief of Suame, Nana Adu Ansere Bekoe II, commended government and the Suame Municipal Assembly for the bold initiative.
He noted that the mechanized borehole project will help resolve long-standing water challenges affecting several communities.
“The people have suffered for years with water shortages. This initiative will bring great relief, and we are grateful to government and the Assembly for responding to our needs,” Nana Adu Ansere Bekoe II stated.
Community Development and Sustainable Growth
The Suame Municipal Assembly believes that the projects will contribute significantly to sustainable development, improved public health outcomes and stronger educational foundations within the municipality.
Residents have expressed optimism that the projects will be completed on schedule and maintained effectively to deliver long-term benefits.
Hon. Frank Owusu Ansah concluded by calling on contractors to ensure quality work and timely delivery, while urging community members to support and protect the projects for the collective good.
The sod-cutting ceremonies mark another milestone in Suame’s development journey as the Assembly continues to partner government and traditional leadership to accelerate progress and improve livelihoods across the municipality.
