3P Garlic Mixture Takes Centre Stage in Elephantiasis Awareness Campaign

Recent reports of rising cases of Elephantiasis in the Wenchi Municipality in the Bono Region have intensified calls for nationwide awareness and preventive action.

A publication by ModernGhana on March 2, 2026, revealed that more than 300 residents were confirmed infected following a large-scale screening exercise.

The findings, presented by Dr Vera Serwaa Opoku of the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research, indicated that 328 out of 4,954 individuals tested positive for the disease, with affected persons subsequently receiving medical treatment.

The report highlights the continued public health burden of elephantiasis, commonly associated with Lymphatic Filariasis,a condition transmitted through infected mosquito bites and exacerbated by environmental and socio-economic factors.

In response to the development, Dr Prince Nelson Mortoti, Chief Executive Officer of PIWAK Natural Health, producers of 3P garlic mixture has stepped up public education efforts to inform Ghanaians about the causes, symptoms, and prevention of the disease.

According to him, elephantiasis is characterized by progressive swelling of the limbs and other parts of the body, skin thickening, discomfort, and long-term disability if not managed early.

He explained that individuals living in tropical environments with high mosquito exposure, poor sanitation, and those who walk barefoot on certain soils are at increased risk.

Additionally, people born with underdeveloped lymphatic systems may also be predisposed.

Dr Mortoti emphasized that effective prevention requires adherence to established public health measures, including:
Protection against mosquito bites through insecticide-treated nets and repellents,
improved sanitation and environmental hygiene,
consistent use of protective footwear, and
early diagnosis and treatment at certified health facilities.

He noted that standard medical management of lymphatic filariasis involves antiparasitic medications and supportive care to control symptoms and prevent complications.

As part of a holistic wellness approach, Dr Mortoti highlighted the role of natural health products such as the 3P Garlic Mixture, developed by PIWAK Natural Health.

He explained that garlic contains bioactive compounds with anti-inflammatory and immune-supportive properties, which may help in managing symptoms like swelling when used appropriately.

He, however, stressed that such products should complement—not replace—professional medical treatment.

The Wenchi findings serve as a critical reminder of the need for sustained awareness and preventive healthcare across the country. Dr Mortoti urged Ghanaians to remain vigilant, prioritize their health, and adopt both medically approved practices and supportive wellness strategies.

“Diseases like elephantiasis are preventable. With the right knowledge, early intervention, and responsible health choices, we can significantly reduce their impact,” he stated.

As Ghana continues to address neglected tropical diseases, the integration of public health education with responsible natural health advocacy remains key to improving outcomes and safeguarding communities.
