In a significant boost to education in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency, Member of Parliament Issah Salifu Taylor has distributed a total of 4,860 mathematical sets to candidates preparing for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The exercise, which took place on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, across various school campuses in the constituency, forms part of the MP’s ongoing commitment to improving educational outcomes and easing the financial burden on parents and guardians.

The distribution covered both public and private school candidates, ensuring inclusivity and equal support for all final-year Junior High School students sitting for the nationwide examination administered by the West African Examinations Council.

Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Taylor emphasized the importance of education as a cornerstone for national development, noting that equipping students with the necessary tools is crucial to their success.

“Education remains one of the most powerful instruments for transforming lives and communities. As leaders, it is our responsibility to ensure that no child is disadvantaged due to lack of basic learning materials,” he stated.
He further encouraged the candidates to approach their examinations with confidence and determination, urging them to make good use of the materials provided.
“I believe in your potential. With hard work, discipline, and focus, you can excel and make Tarkwa-Nsuaem proud,” he added.
The gesture has been widely welcomed by school authorities, parents, and students, many of whom described it as timely and impactful. Several headteachers expressed gratitude, noting that mathematical sets are essential tools for the BECE, particularly for subjects such as Mathematics and Technical Drawing.
A beneficiary student, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the donation had relieved her family of an expense they were struggling to meet.
“This will really help me. My parents were worried about buying a math set for me, but now I can focus fully on my studies,” she said.

Education stakeholders in the constituency have also lauded the initiative, highlighting its potential to improve academic performance and reduce disparities among students from different socio-economic backgrounds.

The donation is part of a broader educational support programme spearheaded by the MP, which includes provision of learning materials, infrastructure development, and engagement with teachers and school administrators to enhance teaching and learning conditions.

Over the years, Mr. Taylor has consistently demonstrated a strong interest in educational development, positioning it as a key priority in his constituency agenda.

As candidates gear up for the BECE, such interventions are expected to play a vital role in boosting morale and ensuring that students are adequately prepared for the examination.
The Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency continues to witness increased stakeholder collaboration in education, with renewed focus on empowering the next generation through strategic investments and targeted support initiatives
