Hon. Mavis Opoku Afriyie, Assembly member for Asuoyeboah south electoral area in the Kwadaso Municipality in the Ashanti region has donated educational materials worth hundred of Ghana cedis to BECE Candidates.
Hon.Mavis Opoku Afriyie, popularly known as Obaa Sima is also a radio newscaster with Kumasi based ,Fox fm.
Items donated to the Asuoyeboah L/A JHS by the local legislator included 12 boxes of mathematical sets, 12 boxes of pens,12 boxes of long rule and nose masks.
The aim of the donation was to assist BECE Candidates to sit for their final exams without any hindrance.
According to her,some students do forget to carry their pens and mathematical sets to the examination halls due to examination pressure and fear so she decided to walk to the examination halls and make things available to them.
She hinted that, since she is an old pupil at Asuoyeboah L/A JHS ,the is the need for her to support her Alma mater.
“I came to support them with educational materials and also to give them morale as they sit for their final examination”She added.
Obaa Sima,is much more competent in delivery and her contributions to the development of Asuoyeboah community cannot be underestimated.
She has been supportive to her community since she became the assembly member for the area.
After the donation,she prayed to God for a successful examination and it was her prayer that they all excel and get admissions to the Senior High Schools to enjoy the free SHS education.
She also promised to purchase free provisions for the first ten best pupils as a sign of appreciation to encourage others to also work hard and pass to enjoy the free secondary education.
‘This examination determines your future so try to work hard in order for you to pass and pass well so that you can become somebody in the future’.Obaa Sima further advised.
The nose masks donated was to observe the safety protocols of the COVID-19 pandemic.
