Residents of the Afigya Kwabre North District continue to grapple with limited access to quality healthcare services as the district struggles with inadequate medical infrastructure and a shortage of healthcare professionals.
The District Chief Executive for the area, Emmanuel Jackson Agumah, has appealed to the Ministry of Health and the central government to urgently intervene by providing modern healthcare facilities and deploying qualified medical personnel, including surgeons, to the district.
According to the DCE, the absence of adequate healthcare infrastructure has compelled residents to travel long distances in search of basic and emergency medical care, placing additional hardship on vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, and the elderly.
He stressed that improving healthcare delivery in the district remains critical to enhancing the well-being of residents and reducing preventable health complications associated with delayed treatment.
Hon. Agumah made the appeal during an interview at the district’s maiden 2026 Town Hall Meeting held at the Methodist Church in Ahenkro. The event brought together chiefs, assembly members, opinion leaders, and residents to review the assembly’s developmental progress and discuss pressing challenges confronting the district.
The DCE reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, noting that the town hall meeting formed part of efforts to strengthen community participation in governance and development planning.
Touching on infrastructure development, Hon. Agumah disclosed that government remains committed to completing abandoned projects across key sectors, including education, healthcare, and water systems.
He specifically referenced the continuation and completion of the government’s “Agenda 111” hospital projects and other legacy initiatives aimed at improving public service delivery in underserved communities.
The DCE further emphasized that the administration of John Dramani Mahama is focused on ensuring continuity in governance by completing ongoing projects inherited from previous administrations while also introducing new development initiatives to improve living conditions in the district.
He expressed optimism that with adequate government support, Afigya Kwabre North would witness significant improvements in healthcare access and overall socio-economic development.
