The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Oforikrom, Anwel Sadat Ahmed, has launched a spirited campaign dubbed “Rep Your Ghana Jersey” to mobilize residents and football lovers across the municipality to support the Black Stars ahead of their opening match against Panama.
The initiative, which is being organized under the auspices of the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly, seeks to harness the unifying power of football by encouraging Ghanaians to proudly wear their national team jerseys and gather to cheer the Black Stars to victory.
According to the MCE, football remains one of the strongest symbols of national identity and unity, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds under a common purpose. He therefore urged residents, particularly the youth, to seize the opportunity to demonstrate their patriotism by turning out in large numbers to support Ghana’s senior national football team.
As part of the event, supporters are expected to converge at the Kotei Astro Turf on Wednesday, June 17, at 10:30 p.m. to watch the highly anticipated encounter on a giant screen in what organizers expect to be a vibrant atmosphere filled with excitement, national pride, and community spirit.
Mr. Ahmed noted that the campaign goes beyond football and serves as a platform to strengthen social cohesion and foster a sense of belonging among residents of the municipality. He stressed that backing the Black Stars is not only about supporting a football team but also about celebrating Ghana’s resilience, talent, and collective aspirations on the international stage.
The MCE expressed confidence in the Black Stars’ ability to make the nation proud and called on fans to remain united behind the team throughout the tournament. He added that a strong show of support from Ghanaians can inspire the players to give their best performances and achieve success for the country.
Residents attending the event have been encouraged to wear their Ghana jerseys and national colours as a visible demonstration of solidarity with the team.
The campaign is being held under the theme of national unity and support for Ghanaian football, with organizers hoping to create an unforgettable experience for supporters while reinforcing the message that the Black Stars carry the hopes and pride of the entire nation whenever they step onto the pitch.
“Rep Your Ghana Jersey” is expected to attract football fans from across Oforikrom and neighboring communities, transforming the Kotei Astro Turf into a sea of red, gold, green, and black as supporters rally behind Ghana in its quest for victory.
