The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Abubakar Sadik, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the timely completion of the ongoing Mankranso–Abuakwa road construction project, describing the initiative as a critical infrastructure intervention that will significantly improve transportation and economic activities within the district.

Hon. Sadik made the remarks during an inspection tour of the road project yesterday, which is being undertaken by Attachy Construction Limited.

The visit formed part of the Assembly’s efforts to monitor the progress of ongoing development projects and ensure that contractors adhere to agreed timelines and quality standards.

According to the DCE, the road project is one of the most important infrastructural developments currently underway in the district due to its strategic role in connecting communities, facilitating the movement of goods and services, and improving access to social amenities.

During the inspection, the project engineer briefed the DCE and his team on the status of the works and indicated that the project has an 18-month completion period. The engineer outlined the various stages of construction already completed and those currently in progress.

While expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work executed so far, Hon. Sadik urged the contractor to intensify efforts and deploy the necessary resources to accelerate construction activities in order to meet the stipulated deadline.

“I am encouraged by the progress made on the project. However, considering the importance of this road to our communities, I have appealed to the contractor to speed up work to ensure that the project is completed within the agreed timeframe,” he stated.

The DCE noted that poor road infrastructure has long been a challenge for residents and road users in the area, affecting transportation, trade, agriculture and access to essential services. He explained that the completion of the road would help address these challenges and contribute to the district’s socio-economic transformation.

Hon. Sadik stressed that the Assembly would continue to play its supervisory role by closely monitoring the project to ensure that quality standards are maintained and that the contractor delivers value for money.

“This road is of great importance to the people of Ahafo Ano South West. We will continue to monitor the project closely to ensure quality work and timely completion for the benefit of our people,” he assured.

He further reiterated the government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure across the country as part of efforts to enhance connectivity, stimulate local economic growth and improve the living conditions of citizens.

The inspection team included the Presiding Member of the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly, Hon. Paul Conscious Amagboe, and the Feeder Roads Engineer, Mr. Charles Anku, who joined the DCE in assessing the progress of work and discussing measures to ensure the successful completion of the project.

Residents and motorists who use the route have expressed optimism about the project, noting that its completion will ease transportation difficulties, reduce travel time and boost commercial activities in the area.

The Mankranso–Abuakwa road project is expected to enhance mobility, improve access to markets and public services, and support the district’s broader development agenda upon completion.
