At a time when interest in natural and herbal healthcare products continues to grow in Ghana, Piwak Natural Health is positioning itself as a notable name in the country’s natural health industry.

Led by Dr. Prince Nelson Mortoti, CEO , the organisation has over the years built a reputation around herbal product development, research, entrepreneurship and community engagement.

One of the products at the centre of the Piwak story is 3P Garlic Mixture, a herbal product and immune booster produced by Piwak Natural Health Centre.

The product has received recognition at major award platforms, while its development and regulatory journey have also been presented as part of the organisation’s commitment to formalising herbal medicine in Ghana.

Multiple award-winning product.

A major milestone for 3P Garlic Mixture came on January 14, 2023, when the product was adjudged the Best Herbal Medicine/Product at the Jupiter Radio and Television Personality (JRTP) Awards held at Madina in Accra.
The recognition placed the product among notable herbal brands in Ghana and provided further visibility for Piwak Natural Health.
Dr. Mortoti was also separately recognised at the ceremony for his leadership in research and product development, with a citation commending his contribution towards promoting the wellbeing of Ghanaians.

The product has also received recognition from the Great Excellence Movie Awards, where it was named the Best Herbal Medicine in Ghana.
For Piwak, the awards represent more than accolades. They form part of a broader journey to develop herbal products that are subjected to research, analysis and regulatory processes.

Regulatory and research journey.

According to information provided by Piwak Natural Health, 3P Garlic Mixture has been approved by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) under registration number FDA/HD2.24-09705.

Before the FDA approval, the product was registered with the Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC) under the Ministry of Health.

The TMPC registration, according to the company, was completed on May 8, 2014, under registration number TMPP02676.

The product was subsequently researched and analysed by the Department of Herbal Medicine at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on June 5, 2014.

The regulatory and research milestones, the company says, form an important part of its efforts to bring greater structure, credibility and professionalism to herbal product development.
Dr. Mortoti earns national entrepreneurial recognition
The achievements of Piwak Natural Health have also been reflected in the recognition received by its chief executive.

On April 25, 2026, at the 16th Ghana Entrepreneurs Awards held at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, Dr. Prince Nelson Mortoti was named the 2025 Most Influential Natural Health Entrepreneur of the Year.
The awards ceremony was held under the theme, “Entrepreneurship as a Catalyst for Ghana’s Economic Transformation.”
The recognition further highlighted the growing contribution of natural health entrepreneurship to Ghana’s private sector and economic development.
Speaking after receiving the award, Dr. Mortoti expressed appreciation to his team and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing research and product formulation.
He also used the occasion to advocate greater integration of herbal medicine into Ghana’s mainstream healthcare system, including the public hospital system.
His call reflects a longstanding debate about the role of traditional and herbal medicine in Ghana’s healthcare architecture and the need for greater collaboration between conventional and herbal healthcare practitioners.
Beyond business: A culture of giving
Beyond its activities in natural health and entrepreneurship, Piwak has also developed a reputation for community support.
The organisation has undertaken substantial donations to communities affected by floods and supported market traders in parts of Accra and the Volta Region.
The company says hundreds of thousands of Ghana cedis have been committed to such community interventions, reinforcing its belief that corporate success should be accompanied by social responsibility.
For Piwak, community engagement therefore remains an important component of its corporate identity.
Building the Piwak brand
The journey of Piwak Natural Health demonstrates how Ghana’s herbal medicine sector can combine traditional knowledge with research, regulation, entrepreneurship and modern brand development.
From the registration of its product with the Traditional Medicine Practice Council to research at KNUST, subsequent FDA approval and recognition at national award platforms, the organisation has sought to establish a structured pathway for its herbal products.
The recognition of 3P Garlic Mixture at the JRTP Awards and the Great Excellence Movie Awards, together with Dr. Mortoti’s recognition at the Ghana Entrepreneurs Awards, has provided additional visibility to the Piwak brand.
For Dr. Mortoti and his team, however, the awards appear to be part of a larger objective: to continue investing in research, product development and innovation while contributing to discussions on the future of herbal medicine in Ghana.
As demand for natural health products continues to attract public attention, Piwak Natural Health says it remains committed to developing its products, strengthening research and supporting communities.
