Ghana has recorded 15,290 new HIV infections, sparking concern among health experts and stakeholders who are calling for urgent and coordinated measures to stem the spread of the virus across the country.
The latest figures, disclosed by health authorities, underscore the persistent challenge HIV/AIDS continues to pose despite years of public education, testing campaigns and access to treatment services.
Public health experts have described the situation as worrying and have urged government, civil society organisations, development partners and community leaders to intensify awareness creation, promote voluntary testing and strengthen support systems for persons living with HIV.
According to health officials, a significant proportion of the new infections were recorded among young people and women, highlighting the need for targeted interventions aimed at reducing vulnerability and promoting responsible health practices.
Health professionals have also reiterated the importance of early diagnosis and adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART), which has proven effective in helping people living with HIV lead healthy and productive lives.
Reacting to the development, the Chief Executive Officer of PIWAK Natural Health Care, producers of the 3P Garlic Mixture, Dr. Prince Nelson Mortoti, expressed shock over the alarming number of new infections recorded nationwide.
He described the figures as a wake-up call for all stakeholders and urged Ghanaians to take HIV prevention seriously.
“The statistics are disturbing and demand immediate action from all of us. We must strengthen public education, encourage regular testing and ensure that those living with HIV receive the support and care they deserve,” Dr. Mortoti stated.
He further called on government agencies, health institutions and community leaders to intensify campaigns against stigma and discrimination, which continue to discourage some individuals from seeking testing and treatment.
Immune Support
Dr. Mortoti encouraged persons living with HIV to complement their prescribed medical treatment with healthy lifestyles, proper nutrition and immune-supporting wellness products.
He noted that while HIV has no known cure, maintaining a strong immune system remains essential in improving overall well-being.
“People living with HIV should strictly adhere to their antiretroviral treatment while also paying attention to good nutrition and general wellness. Products such as the 3P Garlic Mixture may support overall health and immune function when used alongside professional medical care,” he said.
He emphasized that the 3P Garlic Mixture is not a cure for HIV and should never be used as a substitute for medical treatment prescribed by healthcare professionals.
Collective Responsibility
Health experts maintain that reducing new HIV infections requires a collective national effort involving families, schools, religious institutions, healthcare providers and the media.
They have urged the public to embrace preventive measures, know their HIV status through regular testing and seek immediate medical attention when necessary.
As Ghana continues its fight against HIV/AIDS, stakeholders say sustained education, increased access to treatment and community engagement will be critical in reversing the trend and achieving national targets in the battle against the disease.
