The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, has called for a strong alignment between religion, chieftaincy, and political leadership as a catalyst for national development.
He said for a long time, these three key institutions, which produce people in influential and trusted positions, have failed to shape the orientation of their products to provide the leadership and development the nation lacks.
“That alignment must be anchored on truthfulness, trust, good stewardship, and accountability,” he stated.
He made the statement while addressing the Chieftaincy Royals Conference at the Tetelestai Worship Centre in Suame on Friday, June 26, 2026, on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Frank Amoakohene.
“We need change. Religion, chieftaincy, and political leaders must align to bring development,” he advised.
The conference was organised by The Church of Pentecost (COP) under the theme, “The Royal Unleashed to Transform the Palace through the Gospel and the Power of the Holy Spirit”.
The church took its references from Acts 8:4-8, Ecclesiastes 8:4, and Isaiah 49:23.
The conference brought together traditional authorities, the majority of whom are members of the church community and some political leaders.
Other speakers included the Suame Area Head of COP, Apostle Michael Agyen Brefo; Nana Nkansa Boadu Ayeboafo, Agric-Nzemahene; Offinsohene, Nana Dwamena Akenten II; and Elder Nana Kwadwo Gyasi, a businessman and Chairman of the Suame Area Royals Committee of the Church.
They all spoke on the need for Christianity and chieftaincy to work together to foster unity, peace, and the development of society and the nation.
The event was spiced with cultural displays as gospel music, kete and fontomfrom drums sounded.
Traditional leaders who are members of the church congregation and their guests took to the floor to dance joyfully, in a moment that blended culture with faith.
Also in attendance were the Municipal Chief Executive for Suame, Hon. Frank Owusu Ansah; the MP for Bantama, Hon. Henry Kwabena Kokofu; and dozens of queenmothers who contributed colourfully and financially to the success of the event.
