A leading aspirant for the General Secretary position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Charles Dwamena, popularly known as Dr. China, has congratulated all newly elected constituency executives of the party and urged them to rally behind his bid to become the next General Secretary ahead of the party’s national delegates conference.

According to him, the successful conduct of the constituency executive elections marks a new chapter in the rebuilding process of the NPP following the 2024 general elections, and it is important for all elected officers to work together in unity to reposition the party for victory in the 2028 polls.

Dr. China commended the newly elected executives for earning the confidence of delegates and taking up the responsibility of leading the party at the constituency level.

He described their victory as a demonstration of the confidence grassroots members have reposed in them and expressed optimism that they would work diligently to strengthen the party’s structures.

He stressed that the road to recapturing political power in 2028 begins with a united, disciplined and well-organised party, adding that the constituency executives would play a critical role in reconnecting with the grassroots and restoring the confidence of party supporters across the country.

The General Secretary hopeful therefore appealed to the newly elected executives to support his vision of building a stronger and more vibrant NPP capable of winning back the trust of Ghanaians.

“I congratulate every constituency executive elected across the country. Your victory is not just a personal achievement but a call to serve the party with dedication, humility and commitment. I invite you to join hands with me as I seek the mandate to serve as General Secretary so that together we can rebuild the NPP and secure victory in 2028,” he said.

Dr. China noted that his experience, commitment and understanding of the party’s organisational structure have adequately prepared him for the office of General Secretary. He pledged to introduce innovative strategies that would strengthen internal party administration, improve communication, energise the grassroots and deepen collaboration among all levels of the party.

He further indicated that the NPP’s ultimate objective should be to return to government under the leadership of the party’s 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he described as the most capable person to lead Ghana into a new era of economic transformation and national development.

According to him, achieving that goal would require unity of purpose, effective organisation and a collective commitment from every party member, especially the newly elected constituency executives.

Dr. China therefore called on party faithful to put aside individual interests and work towards a common objective of rebuilding the NPP into a formidable political force capable of reclaiming power in the 2028 general elections.

He expressed confidence that with committed leadership, effective mobilisation and the support of delegates across the country, the NPP would emerge stronger and better prepared to return to government with Dr. Bawumia as President.
