The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tano South in the Ahafo Region, Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, has reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with traditional authorities to promote peace, unity and sustainable development in the municipality.
The assurance was given when the MCE attended the coronation ceremony of Nana Opoku Akoto as the Dwantoahene of the Bechem Traditional Area and Nana Kofi Owusu as the Bechemmanhene Kyeame last Sunday.
The colourful traditional event brought together chiefs, queen mothers, opinion leaders, Assembly members, government officials, family members and residents who witnessed the installation of the two traditional leaders amid rich cultural displays and customary rites.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Frimpong congratulated Nana Opoku Akoto and Nana Kofi Owusu on their successful enstoolment and expressed confidence that their leadership would contribute significantly to the development of the Bechem Traditional Area.
He wished the newly installed chiefs a peaceful and successful reign, urging them to continue fostering unity among their people while working closely with government to accelerate development initiatives.
“I congratulate Nananom on their enstoolment and wish them a reign of peace, unity and development for Bechem and the entire Tano South Municipality,” he stated.
The MCE emphasised the indispensable role of traditional authorities in local governance, noting that chiefs remain key partners in maintaining peace, preserving cultural values and mobilising communities for development.
According to him, meaningful development can only be achieved through strong collaboration between local government authorities and traditional leaders.
He therefore assured the Bechem Traditional Council of the Assembly’s readiness to deepen its relationship with the chieftaincy institution to ensure the successful implementation of government policies and development projects across the municipality.
“As an Assembly, we remain committed to working closely with the Traditional Council to promote our cherished traditions, maintain peace and advance the development of Bechem and Tano South,” he stressed.
Mr. Frimpong further called on residents to support the newly enstooled traditional leaders by cooperating with them and contributing to initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of the municipality.
The coronation ceremony was characterised by traditional drumming and dancing, cultural performances and the administration of customary rites, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Bechem Traditional Area.
The event also served as a platform for renewed commitment by both traditional and local government authorities to work together towards sustained peace, unity and development in Tano South.
