The Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Mr Kwesi Afreh Biney, has commissioned a new fleet of vehicles for Trust Logistics Limited (TLL), an investee company of SSNIT, as part of efforts to strengthen its operational capacity and improve service delivery.
The new vehicles are expected to augment the company’s existing fleet and provide the necessary logistical support to enable it to carry out its operations more efficiently.
The investment is also intended to enhance productivity, improve turnaround time in the delivery of services and position Trust Logistics Limited to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the logistics sector.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr Biney said the acquisition of the vehicles demonstrated SSNIT’s commitment to strengthening its investee companies and ensuring that they remained viable and productive entities capable of contributing meaningfully to the growth of the Trust.
He explained that SSNIT, as a manager of workers’ pension contributions, had a responsibility to ensure that its investments generated sustainable returns while supporting the long-term financial security of contributors.
According to him, strengthening the operational capacity of investee companies was essential to achieving that objective, since efficient operations could translate into improved performance and greater value creation.
Mr Biney said the new vehicles would therefore not only address some of the logistical challenges confronting Trust Logistics but also provide the company with the capacity to expand its operations and improve its competitiveness.
He urged the management and staff of TLL to ensure that the vehicles were properly maintained and utilised for their intended purpose to maximise the benefits of the investment.
He further encouraged the company to focus on innovation, efficiency and customer satisfaction while identifying new opportunities that could contribute to its growth and profitability.
The Director-General reiterated SSNIT’s commitment to supporting its investee companies with the necessary resources and strategic direction to enhance their performance.
He said the ultimate objective was to create greater value from SSNIT’s investments and ensure that the Scheme continued to deliver sustainable benefits to workers and pensioners.
The commissioning forms part of broader efforts by SSNIT to strengthen the performance of its investment portfolio and ensure that the assets of the Scheme are managed in a manner that protects and enhances their value.
Trust Logistics Limited, as an investee company of SSNIT, provides logistics-related services and requires a reliable fleet to support its day-to-day operations.
The addition of the new vehicles is consequently expected to improve the company’s mobility, operational efficiency and capacity to respond to the needs of its clients.
The initiative is also expected to contribute to the broader objective of making SSNIT’s investments more productive and capable of generating sustainable returns for the benefit of contributors.
Mr Biney expressed confidence that the new fleet would provide a significant boost to the operations of Trust Logistics Limited and called on the company’s management to make prudent use of the investment.
He said SSNIT would continue to explore appropriate interventions to strengthen its investment entities and ensure that they remained aligned with the Trust’s mandate of safeguarding the future of Ghanaian workers.
The commissioning of the vehicles, therefore, marks another step in SSNIT’s efforts to improve the operational capacity of its investee companies while maximising the value of pension funds entrusted to its management.
