The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kumawu, Hon. Kwasi Amankwaa, has joined the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to donate exercise books to students of Tweneboah Kodua Senior High School as part of efforts to strengthen teaching and learning in the district.
The donation, which was made during a brief ceremony on the school’s campus, forms part of broader interventions by the government and the Kumawu District Assembly to improve access to essential educational materials and reduce the financial burden on parents and students.
The initiative is also aimed at ensuring that students have the necessary learning materials to support their academic work and enhance their performance in school.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Kwasi Amankwaa reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to education, describing it as a critical pillar of national development and a priority area for the government and the Kumawu District Assembly.
He noted that access to basic teaching and learning materials was essential to effective education delivery, stressing that no student should be disadvantaged academically because of a lack of exercise books and other essential learning resources.
According to him, every student deserves the opportunity and necessary support to excel academically, irrespective of their economic background.
He therefore encouraged the beneficiaries to regard the donation as an investment in their future and make judicious use of the exercise books to improve their academic performance.
STAKEHOLDER COLLABORATION
The DCE commended GETFund for its continued contribution to the development of education in the country, particularly its support for institutions and students through interventions aimed at improving educational infrastructure and learning conditions.
He observed that the challenges confronting the education sector required collective efforts from government institutions, development partners, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
Hon. Amankwaa disclosed that the Assembly, under his leadership, would continue to strengthen partnerships with GETFund, the Ministry of Education, non-governmental organisations and other relevant institutions to address the educational needs of schools within the Kumawu District.
He explained that such collaborations would be instrumental in improving school infrastructure, providing teaching and learning materials and creating a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.
He further stressed that the Assembly remained committed to supporting educational institutions in the district to ensure that students received quality education and the necessary resources to achieve their academic ambitions.
SCHOOL EXPRESSES GRATITUDE
Management of Teneboah Kodua Senior High School expressed appreciation to GETFund and the DCE for the gesture, describing the donation as timely and significant in addressing some of the learning needs of the students.
The school authorities noted that the provision of exercise books would go a long way towards supporting students’ academic activities and improving their participation in classroom exercises and assignments.
They assured the donors that the materials would be put to proper use and distributed to serve the intended beneficiaries.
The students, who also expressed excitement over the donation, thanked the DCE and GETFund for remembering their school and providing them with the essential learning materials.
They pledged to study diligently, remain focused on their academic responsibilities and work hard to justify the investment made in their education.
The donation underscores the importance of sustained collaboration between government agencies and local authorities in addressing the material needs of educational institutions, particularly at the second-cycle level.
It is also expected to contribute to creating a supportive learning environment in which students can concentrate on their studies without the additional pressure associated with the lack of basic educational materials.
